About
This garage is about a car I bought in Ok, but needs work condition. When I first saw the car I knew I would someday restore or possibly modify. I eventually leaned towards the mod. Ended up going with a 2004 LS6 ZO6 Corvette crate motor with a 700r4 overdrive trans. Its been a long haul but still not completed. Hope to be driving by late spring.
History of this Vehicle
I bought the car on October 31, 1993 (Halloween) It was purchased from a 2nd owner who kept it in the garage for the past 11 years. I found the car thru a lifelong friend of mine who was a mechanic and got the car for partial payment for some work he did on this guys 4×4. Since I needed a car very bad My friend let me buy the car for $500.00 . He wanted me to drive it untill I bought another car then sell it back for the $500.00 but I didnt want to give the car up so I made him a deal he can be the first in line to buy it back if I ever sell and if anything should happen to me he gets the car. At least I know it will be cared for. I drove the car daily for a little over 2 years untill the front end got loose and needed to be fixed. I was living week to week and my dad gave me his old truck so the Monte just kinda sat. From 96 till 01 I would start the car every few weeks and a few times a year I would take her for a spin. Yep, No tags, loose front end and all. I just had to feel that power of a V8 once in a while. Then in 2002 I moved to Las Vegas Nv. I parked the Monte in my brothers back yard in kind of a field. It sat there untill November 2005 when I had it shipped to Vegas. I was refered a mechanic/body man by a friend of mine. All I wanted was body work, paint and either the stock motor gone thru or a new 350 crate motor with some chrome accents. This guy takes me for a ride in his 04 ZO6 Corvette and convinces me into getting the LS6 ZO6 motor I have in it now. Ok, Im not doing a frame off so were looking at body, paint, and engine swap. He tells me 6 months No problem. 6 months come not done, one year not done. After 2 years I go get the car because he says he’s tired of working on it. Since then I’ve moved back to washington and I am doing what I can on the car myself (not a mechanic) I do have someone here that will finish the car for me for a pretty fair price. Hope by spring.
Plans for this Vehicle
Keep and enjoy the rest of my life. I plan on going to as many car shows as I can. Not really to compete but to just hang out and enjoy all the other cars and car people. Im in a First Generation Monte Carlo Club www.fgmcc.com We have club car meets at a different car show each year. One for the East and one for us Westerners. So I plan on attending as many club events that I can even the Eastern meet some day. I wanted to this year but they both fall on the same weekend. Maybe next year I’ll make it to the East Coast. But my first plan for the car is to Get it done so I can start enjoying the driving part of having a classic muscle car.
