This is my Competition Gold 1971 Cyclone Spoiler one of 353 Spoilers made in 71. Super clean car original car and barn find (nice concrete floored pole barn that is). It has rare power windows (37), 429 CJ, J code ram air car, 4 speed close ratio top loader, hounds tooth interior and is a factory Executive order car used for the 71 promotional photo shoots and most likely the LA and Las Vegas Car show (same color options and dates…). Very low miles at 30,980 documented miles. It was built the first day of production and is the 18th J code built. It has a very low serial number and is a complete rust free CA built then Nevada Car. I have the original build sheet and other paper work on it as well.
History of this Vehicle
Owned by a Highway Patrol Officer that had Shelby’s and this odd ball Merc. Most likely because of it’s history and that they are very nice riding and handling cars that move out. Left it to his sister after he passed on and her son bought it. With good intentions he had it painted. Long story short they got in an argument over money and he got it back missing all the trim, the complete grille and spoilers. Yeaks! What a nightmare. Needless to say he became disenchanted with it and sold it twelve years later. I purchased it as it was a nice car to start with even though it was missing the hardest parts to find for a Cyclone Spoiler. It’s History became known as I began to retrace it and what an added bonus that is. I’ve sold all my cars, except for the Red Spoiler and a parts car, Red base Cyclone, to continue the work on this car.
Plans for this Vehicle
Concours restoration. I have and am looking for NOS parts. I don’t have deep pockets so it will be slow going. I’ve owned it since 10-25-08 and have made much progress in the parts department. Still looking for many parts: D0OE-D fan shroud NOS water bottle NOS hubcaps NOS trim rings C8SE-B fan spacer NOS radiator support D0OE fan LDWLK892@yahoo.com NOS spoilers NOS rear view mirror…
