Worked today on making the repair needed to fix axle problem. It seems that a clip might be broken that holds the axle in place. I have to add a upper control arm and replace the Corvette half shafts with Porsche cv axles. This should solve my problem.
Update 9/23/12 The bearings that the axle ride on, blew out and was causing the axle to push into the transaxle. It is a sealed bearing, so I replaced them, and had adapters made, by my design, and installed the Porsche axles to mate to Corvette trailing arms and the BMCD transaxle. Over 300 miles and all is well.
Update 10/16/12 The Porsche axles seem to be the ticket, as I have had no isses in 400 miles of driving.
